After spending my morning watching kids compete at an academic bowl, I spent close to 45 minutes today cleaning this shelving unit from the main refrigerator in the school kitchen. 7 of the school's 9 teachers (all but the 2nd and 7th grade teachers) spent the afternoon cleaning the kitchen for the health inspector. They're coming on Wednesday... and we realllllly don't want a bad grade. We cleaned every inch of that place, from the ceilings to the inside of the cabinets. We're hoping the janitor does a thorough mopping job, otherwise one of us will probably go in and do it Tuesday night. Welcome to life as a small private school teacher. Maybe now I'll be able to start lesson planning for next week and grading the final drafts of the research papers turned in yesterday.
